How to convince your family to join your wedding abroad

QUICK ANSWERS

Both work for a destination wedding in France, and the guest count decides it.

Château estates — Vaux-le-Vicomte, Versailles (permit required), Château de Chantilly, Château d’Esclimont, all 30-60 minutes from Paris.

  • Palatial grandeur, formal gardens, exclusive use of the property.
  • Suit larger groups, 50 to 200 guests, indoor and outdoor.
  • Guest transport required; overnight accommodation often included.
  • Formal atmosphere, structured timelines.
  • Minimum guest counts often apply (40-60+), which rules out intimate celebrations.

City venues — luxury hotels (Shangri-La, Ritz, Peninsula), Seine river boats, rooftop terraces, Marais lofts, museum spaces such as the Musée Rodin.

  • Urban sophistication, walkable guest access, Eiffel Tower views.
  • Suit intimate groups, 20 to 100 guests, all metro-accessible.
  • Contemporary, flexible atmosphere, vendors chosen individually.
  • Our Paris packages run from €790 to €9,550.

Under 20 guests — city venues win outright. Marais apartments, private dining rooms (Le Jules Verne, L’Arpège), boutique hotels (Hôtel Particulier Montmartre) and historic salons take elopements and micro-weddings with no minimum. Everything is walkable, so there is no shuttle to coordinate, and Haussmann boulevards, Art Nouveau details and medieval Marais courtyards sit a few steps apart. Châteaux either impose a minimum or feel oversized. Read our guide to micro-weddings in Europe.

  • Scenery — château: manicured gardens, historic architecture, countryside. City: Eiffel Tower, Seine bridges, Parisian rooftops, Haussmann elegance.
  • Logistics — château: guest shuttles. City: walkable and metro-accessible, decisive for a small wedding in France.
  • Guest experience — château: an immersive weekend on the estate. City: Paris sightseeing built into the day.
  • Flexibility — city venues adapt the timeline; châteaux run to a fixed schedule.
  • Architecture — city venues span Belle Époque (Shangri-La), modernist rooftops, medieval Marais stone and Art Nouveau detail. Châteaux offer one palatial style, beautifully, but only one.

May-June and September give the best balance of weather, cost and availability across every French region. Here is how the three seasons compare for a wedding in France.

Spring (April-May)

  • Moderate temperatures, 15-22°C, and blooming gardens.
  • Cherry blossom and wisteria, fresh energy, and no peak-season crowds.
  • Venues fully staffed, wider availability.
  • Paris at its best as the café terraces reopen; early lavender growth in Provence.
  • Risk: occasional rain, so a backup plan is needed.

Summer (June-August)

  • Guaranteed warmth, 22-28°C, and daylight until 9:30pm or later.
  • The reliable choice for outdoor ceremonies, Riviera beach clubs, and the Provence lavender fields in June and July.
  • Peak season: crowded sites and limited availability, so book 12-18 months ahead.
  • Risk: heat waves above 35°C in Provence and on the Riviera.

Autumn (September-October)

  • Golden light, comfortable temperatures of 18-24°C, and far fewer crowds.
  • The season for photography and wine themes: grape harvest in Bordeaux, Burgundy and Champagne.
  • Paris stunning under autumn foliage.
  • Risk: rain probability rises from September onwards.

One thing that does not change with the season: our package prices. An elopement in France costs the same in May as it does in August.

Two capitals an hour apart by air, and two very different weddings. Here is how London compares with a wedding in France.

Paris — Seine-side romance, Eiffel Tower ceremonies, château grandeur, French haute cuisine.

  • Best for continental elegance, iconic landmarks and outdoor possibilities.
  • A more intimate scale, walkable neighbourhoods, refined gastronomy.
  • Climate: mild continental, 5-25°C, rain possible year-round but less than London.
  • Packages from €790 to €9,550, Basic to Infinity.

London — Thames river venues, royal palace settings (Kew Gardens, Hampton Court), multicultural energy, British traditions.

  • Best for historic grandeur, excellent English-language services and cosmopolitan diversity.
  • A larger scale, in an international business hub.
  • Climate: cooler maritime, 3-23°C, with more rain — around 180 days a year.
  • Packages from £1,940, quoted in pounds. London starts at Silver: there is no Basic package there.

Side by side:

  • Style — Paris: romantic, artistic, food-focused. London: regal, traditional, multicultural.
  • Accessibility — London has the superior international flight network; Paris the better trains, Eurostar and TGV.
  • Weather — Paris gives you a better chance of an outdoor ceremony; London needs an indoor backup plan.
  • Budget — compare with care, the two are quoted in different currencies: Paris from €790, London from £1,940.

If you want the ceremony outdoors with just the two of you in the frame, an elopement in France is the safer bet on weather alone.

Both work for a destination wedding in France. They suit different couples, and the choice is rarely about which one is more beautiful.

Paris — iconic romance, Eiffel Tower views, historic châteaux, world-class museums, Belle Époque elegance.

  • Best for classic French sophistication, urban luxury and year-round access.
  • Venues from intimate Marais apartments to grand palaces: Shangri-La, Château de Vaux-le-Vicomte.
  • Excellent public transport, walkable arrondissements, wedding services running in every season.
  • Peak season April-October, though winter weddings carry a magical holiday atmosphere.
  • Packages from €790 to €9,550.

French Riviera — Mediterranean glamour, yacht backdrops, beach clubs, hilltop villages such as Èze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence, Côte d’Azur sunshine.

  • Best for outdoor ceremonies, seaside receptions and resort-style celebrations.
  • Venues include Belle Époque palaces in Nice, contemporary luxury in Cannes, and intimate villa estates.
  • More seasonal: most operations run May to September.
  • Packages from €990 to €9,470.

Side by side:

  • Climate — Paris is mild continental, 5-25°C, with rain possible year-round. The Riviera is Mediterranean, 10-30°C, reliably sunny from May to September.
  • Style — Paris: timeless elegance, art, gastronomy, museums. Riviera: sun-soaked luxury, yachts, beach lifestyle.
  • Guest experience — Paris offers exceptional cultural activities and metro access. The Riviera needs a car rental and centres on resort relaxation.
  • Budget — the Riviera runs 17 to 25% above Paris from Basic to Diamond. At Infinity level the two are the same, €80 apart.

For just the two of you, both work: the Riviera for reliable sunshine, Paris for an elopement in France in any month of the year.

Both work, and they suit different couples. Here is how a destination wedding in France compares with Italy.

France — refined sophistication and gastronomy

  • Best for: culinary excellence with Michelin-starred catering, formal beauty, wine region celebrations (Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne).
  • Venues: château grandeur, Haussmann boulevards, Gothic cathedrals.
  • Strengths: superior transport infrastructure (TGV), consistent service standards, the Paris brand.
  • Packages: €790–9,550, Basic to Infinity.
  • Climate: varied — continental in Paris, Mediterranean in the south.
  • Season: year-round.

Italy — la dolce vita, warmth and spontaneity

  • Best for: relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle, villa estates, opera-infused culture, emotional Italian hospitality.
  • Landscapes: from Alpine lakes (Como, Garda) to southern coasts (Amalfi, Sicily).
  • Food: exceptional regional specialties, fresh ingredients, convivial abundance, wine as culture.
  • Packages: €790–10,100, Basic to Infinity.
  • Climate: hot Mediterranean summers (28–35°C), mild winters.
  • Peak season: April–October.

Side by side:

  • Atmosphere — France: polished, formal, gastronomic focus, structured timelines. Italy: warm, spontaneous, passionate, late dinners, family embrace.
  • Food philosophy — France: haute cuisine technique, precise wine pairings, Michelin standards. Italy: regional traditions, seasonal ingredients, wine as culture.
  • Venue variety — France is stronger on châteaux and palaces; Italy on villas and coastal estates.
  • Guest experience — France: refined sophistication, museum culture, formal service. Italy: relaxed pace, family-style dinners, emotional warmth.
  • Language — the same challenge in both, and both need a local coordinator on the ground.
  • Budget — neither country is cheaper. Both start at €790; France reaches €9,550, Italy €10,100. Our Paris and Florence packages are identical from Basic to Diamond.

Pick the country whose atmosphere you already picture. An elopement in France and an elopement in Italy cost the same at entry level — the difference is the backdrop, not the invoice.

Two river cities, two very different kinds of romance. Here is how Prague compares with a wedding in France.

Paris — the Seine’s elegant curves through Haussmann’s planned boulevards, refined Belle Époque and Art Nouveau architecture.

  • Best for polished sophistication, iconic landmarks (Eiffel Tower, Louvre), and world-class luxury services.
  • Romance centres on river cruises, bridge-lit evenings and manicured gardens.
  • Cosmopolitan energy: designer shopping, Michelin dining, grand palace hotels.
  • A more formal, service-oriented approach.
  • Packages from €790 to €9,550.

Prague — fairytale charm, the Vltava winding through Gothic, Baroque and Art Nouveau layers.

  • Best for authentic Old World romance, castle venues and cobblestone streets.
  • The astronomical clock, Charles Bridge and hilltop Prague Castle.
  • An intimate, bohemian vibe: beer gardens, jazz clubs, accessible luxury.
  • A more relaxed, welcoming approach.
  • Packages from €940 to €7,720.

Side by side:

  • River settings — Paris: the wide, elegant Seine with symmetrical bridges. Prague: the dramatic Vltava with the Gothic Charles Bridge as its focal point.
  • Architecture — Paris: one unified Haussmann aesthetic. Prague: an eclectic medieval-to-Art-Nouveau mix that reads like a storybook.
  • Ambiance — Paris: sophisticated, fast-paced, fashion-forward. Prague: cosy, timeless, laid-back Central European charm.
  • Budget — closer than the reputation suggests. Prague runs 3 to 19% above Paris from Basic to Diamond, and about 19% below at Infinity level.

For just the two of you, Paris runs year-round, which is why an elopement in France works in December as well as in June.

Classic French elegance against Mediterranean creative energy. Here is how Barcelona compares with a destination wedding in France.

Paris — Haussmann boulevards, riverside venues along the Seine, refined sophistication.

  • Best for timeless romance, world-renowned gastronomy with Michelin-starred catering, and year-round wedding services.
  • Venues include historic châteaux (Versailles, Vaux-le-Vicomte), luxury palace hotels and intimate Marais lofts.
  • Excellent international flights and a metro system for guests.
  • A more formal atmosphere, with dress codes and traditional service.
  • Packages from €790 to €9,550. Peak season April-October.

Barcelona — vibrant Catalan culture, Gaudí architecture, Mediterranean beaches, relaxed Spanish lifestyle.

  • Best for outdoor celebrations, modernist venues and a bohemian-luxury fusion.
  • Options include beach clubs, Montjuïc gardens, Gothic Quarter palaces and contemporary spaces.
  • A more casual, fiesta atmosphere with late-night celebrations.
  • Packages from €830 to €10,152. Peak season May-September.

Side by side:

  • Climate — Barcelona is warmer, Mediterranean 12-28°C, against Paris continental 5-25°C, with reliable outdoor weather from May to September.
  • Atmosphere — Paris: refined elegance, museum culture, formal dining. Barcelona: creative energy, beach lifestyle, late-night party culture.
  • Language — Paris asks a little more French of you; Barcelona’s wedding industry works widely in English.
  • Budget — Paris is the more affordable of the two, by 5 to 10% across every package.

Both are city ceremonies at heart. If you want the sea in the frame, Barcelona wins. If you want the two of you alone on a bridge at dawn, an elopement in France is hard to beat.

Paris and the French Riviera sit around 5°C apart all year, and that gap decides more than comfort — it decides whether you can plan outdoors with confidence.

Paris, mild continental with four distinct seasons:

  • Spring (April-May): 15-20°C, gardens in bloom, occasional rain.
  • Summer (June-August): 20-25°C and long daylight — the season for Seine ceremonies and outdoor receptions.
  • Autumn (September-October): 15-20°C, with the château grounds at their best.
  • Winter (November-March): 5-10°C, festive, but indoor venues only.

The French Riviera, Mediterranean with hot dry summers and mild winters:

  • Spring (April-May): 18-22°C, few crowds.
  • Summer (June-September): 25-30°C, reliable sunshine for beach clubs and yacht receptions.
  • Autumn (October): 20-25°C.
  • Winter (November-March): 10-15°C, but many venues close for the season.

Rain is the real difference: Paris around 170 days a year, the Riviera around 60. From May to September the Riviera is dry enough to plan outdoors without a backup. For a wedding in France, May-June and September suit both.

You're probably reading this review and many others below and above me (like I did 7 months ago) wondering if Love Gracefully is the real deal.

Let me tell you, you have nothing to worry about, and you should work with Love Gracefully for your elopement / overseas ceremony or whatever you have in mind.

I think for many you'll feel odd about parting with money and leaving the planning of your ceremony to a team half way across the globe on the other side of an email - but now I've been back home for three weeks following our ceremony this should be the very reason you use Love Gracefully.

A few very simple emails back and fourth, and all the work is done for you - exactly how you want it. Just wait for the instructions that come a week or two before your ceremony and you're all set.

Lorena and Bibiana arranged our private elopment in Florence where we met our celebrant Filippo, who was amazing, and our photographer Francesco on the day. I'm writing this review after just receiving our photographs, which are absolutely unreal, so much better than we imagined - Francesco knew exactly what to do to get us the best memories of our day.

Love Gracefully were the most responsive company when I was searching for our planners and we truly couldn't have asked for any more - the whole experience was perfect.

Send that email, get that payment made and use Love Gracefully!

Ceremony and Photo Shoot Location - Tempietto di Diana, Villa Borghese, Rome, Italy

We had the absolute best time at the lovely wedding that Love Gracefully put together for us! We were already so happy to be there in Rome, and seeing the whole vision come together was so amazing. The van driver was awesome, and he took my father and I directly where we needed to go prior to the ceremony, and drove my husband and I all around Villa Borghese in Rome to reach multiple photoshoot locations. I loved my bouquet and I am so glad it turned out so pretty. The ceremony location at Tempietto di Diana was awesome and it was so fun to have our guests sitting around the stone benches. The whole Villa Borghese park areas was really beautiful and perfect for an outdoor wedding.

Our coordinator, Alessia, worked with us to change our photo shoot location so last minute, and it really made a huge difference in the style of photos we were able to get. Our photographer was so kind and helpful in making us feel comfortable in front of the camera and we love all the shots! The violinist was the perfect touch and it was so special to get a first dance there in the park. Everything was so perfect and we are so glad with the decision we made to choose Love Gracefully. They were so great from the very beginning and really supported us through the process every step of the way. Love Gracefully and especially Alessia made our big day even more special and memorable!

Sincerely,
The Tilleys

If you’re considering an elopement or small ceremony on the Amalfi Coast, booking with Love Gracefully is the best decision you can possibly make!

My wife and I began planning our elopement in Positano just three months in advance. On the day of our ceremony, Camilla & the rest of the Love Gracefully team far surpassed our expectations. The officiant, violinist, photographer, and videographer they sourced all blew us away. They were not only incredibly talented and executed our vision for the day perfectly, but they were also kind, easy to talk to, and put our minds at ease.

If we could elope and hire this team again, we’d do it a thousand times over. The memories we made were worth every penny. Thank you Love Gracefully for everything!

As a bride from Toronto, I dreamed of a fairytale, enchanting elopement in Portugal, and it exceeded every expectation. From the moment we were paired with Belinda for our wedding in Sintra, my partner and I knew we were in excellent hands.

Belinda was incredibly responsive, flexible, and always willing to meet or answer our questions, no matter the time. She was genuine, honest, and exceptionally knowledgeable about Portugal. Her local expertise guided us toward the best choices and helped us avoid decisions that would have taken away from our experience. We truly trusted her every step of the way.

Our ceremony at Cabo da Roca was absolutely magical—more beautiful than we ever imagined. Every detail came together perfectly, creating the most unforgettable day.

I also can't say enough wonderful things about Nicole, my hair and makeup artist. She made me feel absolutely beautiful while creating such a calm, relaxing atmosphere on the morning of the wedding. She is incredibly talented, and my hair and makeup lasted flawlessly throughout the wind, mist, and even plenty of happy tears.

Alex the photographer took stunning photos and the turnover for photos and videos were very fast.

If you're dreaming of a romantic European wedding or elopement, I wholeheartedly recommend this company. They brought our vision to life and gave us memories we'll cherish forever. Thank you for making our dream wedding a reality!

We trusted Cristina with Love Gracefully to coordinate all of the details for our vow renewal in Sicily and were so pleased with how everything turned out. She was delightful to work with and was able to create a moment for my husband and I that felt very authentic and sincere. She worked with the florist and the photographer to help bring our vision to life. From our initial contact and zoom interview to officiating our renewal, Christina was professional, personable and so easy to work with. We never felt rushed and loved that the photographer took extra time to make sure we had ample opportunities to capture such a special day. I would highly recommend Love Gracefully for your special event.

WHAT TYPE OF FRANCE WEDDING IS RIGHT FOR YOU ?

FRANCE AS YOU DREAM IT
Destination wedding ceremony with family by Seine river and Eiffel Tower

MICRO WEDDING FRANCE

Picture saying “I do” in the timeless elegance of Paris, or exchanging vows against the sea on the French Riviera. A micro wedding in France keeps the guest list short and the day entirely yours.

Treat the people who travelled for you to French cuisine and wine, then stay on together for a relaxed holiday afterwards — the celebration does not have to end with the ceremony.

Our guide to planning a micro wedding in Europe

The couple during the ceremony of vow renewal in Eze, French riviera, on a balcony

FRANCE VOW RENEWAL

Renew your vows in a country that already means something to you — or discover it together for the first time. A vow renewal in France can take place in front of a Paris landmark, in a quiet garden, or on the sun-kissed shores of the French Riviera.

Some couples return to the city of their honeymoon. Others arrive with no history here at all. Either way, our vow renewal packages take care of the details, so the day belongs to the two of you.

Romantic elopement in France, with the Senat in Paris as a background

FRANCE ELOPEMENT

Just the two of you, a celebrant and a photographer. To elope in France is to skip the guest list, the seating plan and the year of planning, and keep only the part that matters.

Walk hand in hand through the streets of Paris, or exchange your vows on a quiet stretch of the Riviera coast. Our France elopement packages handle everything around the ceremony, so you can spend the rest of the trip as a honeymoon.

WHERE CAN YOU GET MARRIED IN FRANCE ?

ELOPEMENT OR WEDDING IN FRANCE AS YOU DREAM IT

Getting married in France will make you feel like you are achieving a dream, but you need the help of experts so everything goes as planned. We curated the best ceremony locations in Paris and French Riviera, keeping in mind their spectacularity but their practicalities as well.

PARIS WEDDING PACKAGES

Our Parisian coordinators choose each spot for more than the view: accessibility, a backup plan if it rains, and somewhere the crowds will not walk through your vows. Four venues we come back to for a wedding in Paris:

  • Eiffel Tower — the iconic backdrop, from the intimate spots nearby rather than the crowded esplanade.
  • Luxembourg Gardens — statues, formal lawns and a calm that suits a ceremony.
  • American Church in Paris — for a religious ceremony conducted in English. Extra fees apply.
  • Chapelle Expiatoire — a historic chapel dedicated to Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, seating up to a hundred guests. Extra fees apply.

FRENCH RIVIERA – south of France – WEDDING PACKAGES

The coast changes character every few kilometres. Four places we plan a French Riviera wedding around:

  • Monaco — vows overlooking the Mediterranean, with the Casino de Monte-Carlo or the Prince’s Palace in frame.
  • Nice — cobbled lanes and colourful old-town façades, and around 300 sunny days a year.
  • Cannes — the Croisette, the grand hotels and the yachts, for the film-festival version of the Riviera.
  • Eze — a medieval village of winding lanes and ruins, perched above the sea. The quietest of the four.
Pierre officiating a barefoot wedding ceremony for a couple on a boat deck

“ The fact that I talk about love all day long with couples who want to celebrate their love is a real blessing. I have so much gratitude for the life I have: being of service for couples from all over the world! I love to create ceremonies that are meaningful. To see the eyes of the couples I marry while they share their vows is magic: I know I am making a difference in a world that, sometimes, doesn’t make much sense…”

OUR REAL STORIES

Elopement, wedding or vow renewal packages in France

Intimate Elopement in Eze, France | French Riviera Wedding, BJ

Perched above the sparkling Mediterranean, the medieval village of Eze set the stage for Brian and Jeanette's intimate elopement. Surrounded by close friends, golden light, and fragrant gardens, they exchanged heartfelt vows beneath ancient olive trees — a perfect blend of romance, history, and breathtaking French Riviera views.

An Intimate Elopement in Nice, French Riviera

They connected on Facebook — no mutual friends, just a video of Allisa playing piano. David was in Barcelona. Sixty days after their first date, he proposed at Glacier National Park. On a bright January afternoon in Nice, they said their vows, just the two of them, with the Mediterranean as their witness.

A Vows renewal with family in Paris, K&J

A romantic vows renewal in Paris. Their day began with a stunning sunrise photo shoot at iconic Paris landmarks — the Eiffel Tower, Trocadéro, and the Louvre Pyramid — capturing both elegant couple portraits and joyful family moments. This unforgettable day combined love, family, and the timeless beauty of the City of Light.
