A Micro Wedding in Positano on the Amalfi Coast

A December Wedding in Positano

Julie and Dillon chose Positano for their micro wedding — and December, of all months. The crowds were gone, the light was soft and flat over the Tyrrhenian Sea, and the terraces above the village were theirs alone. For a couple who wanted something real over something grand, a wedding on the Amalfi Coast in winter made every kind of sense. A small group, a cliffside ceremony, and a micro wedding in Italy that needed nothing added to it.

The Ceremony in Positano

The ceremony took place on a stone terrace above the rooftops of Positano, with the coastline stretching out behind them and a handful of people they actually wanted there. Julie read her vows from a small card — and laughed, which said everything. Dillon held her bouquet while she found her words. It was the kind of moment that happens when you keep the guest list short and the intentions honest. No grand gestures needed — just the two of them, the people who mattered, and a December view over the Tyrrhenian Sea.

J&D, our couple

Julie and Dillon met at university in January 2020 — their first date was a leg workout at the gym, which tells you everything you need to know about them. They spent two years as friends before anything romantic began, and by the time they chose Positano for their wedding, they had built the kind of relationship that doesn’t need much explaining. Julie brings the warmth; Dillon brings the humor. Together they’re the couple that’s equally happy hiking, hitting the beach, or just being silly at home with their dog Stella. Two guests made the trip from Florida to watch them marry on December 26 — a small number, chosen on purpose.

After the Ceremony

Once the vows were done, they walked. Positano in December belongs to almost no one — the streets quiet, the light low and warm toward the end of the afternoon. Julie’s veil caught the wind on the terrace above the coast, and for a moment the whole scene held still. They stopped in front of the church, walked to the overlook, and just existed in the place they’d chosen. No schedule to keep, no large party to attend to. The photos from that hour aren’t posed — they’re two people who had just gotten married, in one of the most beautiful places on earth, with nowhere else to be.
