QUICK ANSWERS
Portugal wedding packages start at €940 and vary by region and level of coverage. All prices are starting (“from”) prices, VAT included, with no hidden fees.
Lisbon & Sintra offer the full range: Basic €940 (ceremony and English-speaking officiant), Silver €1,550, Gold €2,470, Diamond €3,680, up to Infinity €8,255 (private venue and full-day coverage).
Madeira starts at €1,970 for the Silver package (there is no Basic option for this location), with Gold at €2,990 and Diamond at €4,230 — designed around the island’s cliffs, forests and adventure elopements.
The Algarve starts at €1,970 for the Silver package (no Basic option), with Gold at €2,990 and Diamond at €4,080 — built around the region’s beaches and coastal cliffs.
Every package includes Belinda’s full coordination, a tailor-made symbolic ceremony with your own vows, and an English-speaking celebrant. Legal paperwork is handled separately — most couples do a quick civil marriage at home, then celebrate symbolically in Portugal.
Sintra Palace Venues (30 minutes from Lisbon) showcase UNESCO World Heritage fairytale settings with Pena Palace colorful turrets, Monserrate Palace exotic gardens, Quinta da Regaleira mystical wells, and Biester Palace romantic architecture. Best for couples seeking storybook romance, exclusive historic venues, lush forest backdrops, and immediate countryside escape. Strengths: unparalleled romantic settings, fewer tourist crowds (especially early morning/late afternoon), extensive gardens, architectural diversity. Climate: cooler, more humid than Lisbon (forest microclimate). Peak season: May-October. More intimate, fairytale atmosphere.
Lisbon City Venues offer panoramic miradouros (viewpoints) overlooking Tagus River, historic Belém monuments, Alfama neighborhood cobblestone charm, and contemporary rooftop terraces. Ideal for couples wanting urban sophistication, accessible guest logistics (metro system, walkable neighborhoods), fado music culture, and integrated city exploration. Strengths: diverse venue variety (riverside, hilltop viewpoints, historic gardens), excellent accommodation options, year-round services, cultural activities. More cosmopolitan, urban-elegant vibe.
Scenery: Sintra = palace turrets, forest gardens, mountain views, mystical atmosphere. Lisbon = river panoramas, seven hills, colorful tiles, urban landmarks.
Logistics: Sintra requires transportation (30-minute drive/train), limited accommodation (book early). Lisbon = metro access, abundant hotels, walkable center.
Guest experience: Sintra = palace tours, forest hikes, Cabo da Roca (Europe’s westernmost point). Lisbon = fado shows, tram 28, Belém pastries, riverside dining.
Photography: Both exceptional—Sintra fairytale architecture, Lisbon urban panoramas with golden hour light.
Portugal delivers Atlantic authenticity with dramatic coastlines, historic Lisbon miradouros, UNESCO Sintra palaces, and “saudade” soul. Best for couples seeking undiscovered charm, exceptional value, year-round mild climate, and easiest legal ceremony paperwork in Europe. Strengths: best budget-to-quality ratio, genuine local culture without tourist crowds, Madeira volcanic island paradise, Algarve golden beaches, welcoming LGBTQIA+ atmosphere. Climate: Atlantic temperate (15-28°C), mild year-round. Peak season: May-October.
Spain provides vibrant Mediterranean energy with flamenco passion, Gaudí architecture, tapas culture, and cosmopolitan cities. Ideal for couples wanting party atmosphere, beach-city diversity (Barcelona, Mallorca), late-night celebrations, and established wedding infrastructure. Strengths: more destination variety, superior beach club scenes, year-round southern sunshine. Climate: hot Mediterranean (25-35°C summers). More international, tourist-oriented.
Atmosphere: Portugal = authentic, intimate, soulful “saudade” spirit, relaxed pace. Spain = vibrant, energetic, fiesta culture, cosmopolitan buzz.
Architecture: Portugal = colorful tiles (azulejos), Moorish palaces (Sintra), medieval castles. Spain = Gaudí modernism, Gothic quarters, baroque grandeur.
Legal ceremonies: Portugal easiest paperwork (2-3 months); Spain more complex.
Crowds: Portugal significantly less touristy; Spain established destinations busier.
LGBTQIA+ friendliness: Both welcoming; Portugal quieter acceptance, Spain vibrant pride culture (especially Sitges).
Yes, legal/civil weddings are possible in Portugal, but they require organisation and planning. You’ll need: birth certificates and divorce decrees (all translated and apostilled), a 30+ day residency requirement or multiple trips to Portugal, appointments at the Civil Registry Office, notary fees, translation costs, and legal representation, plus 4-6 months of planning. Most couples choose our recommended approach: a quick legal courthouse marriage at home (30 minutes, minimal cost, your own language), then celebrate with a meaningful symbolic ceremony at Portugal’s stunning locations (Sintra palaces, Lisbon miradouros, Madeira cliffs, Algarve beaches) with personalized vows, professional photography, and zero bureaucracy. This gives you the best of both worlds—legal recognition and romantic celebration.
Madeira Island delivers unique volcanic landscapes with laurisilva UNESCO forests, cascading waterfalls (25 Fontes), dramatic sea cliffs (Cabo Girão 580m), and year-round spring climate (17-25°C). Best for couples seeking adventure elopements, nature immersion, exotic flora backdrops, and immediate honeymoon island paradise. Strengths: untouched natural beauty, levada trail hiking, intimate island scale, consistent weather (minimal seasonal variation), unique volcanic rock formations. Requires 1.5-hour flight from Lisbon. More adventurous, nature-focused experience.
Mainland Portugal (Lisbon-Sintra-Algarve) offers historic UNESCO palaces, colorful tile architecture, cultural richness, and accessible convenience. Ideal for couples prioritizing architectural venues, urban sophistication, easier guest logistics, and diverse regional exploration. Strengths: Pena Palace fairytales, Lisbon miradouros, Algarve beaches, fado culture, extensive accommodation variety. Direct international flights to Lisbon/Faro. More classic, accessible Portuguese experience.
Scenery: Madeira = volcanic cliffs, waterfalls, laurel forests, exotic gardens. Mainland = palaces, historic cities, golden beaches, wine valleys.
Atmosphere: Madeira = wild nature, adventure focus, remote island romance, eco-tourism. Mainland = cultural sophistication, historic elegance, urban-coastal variety.
Guest activities: Madeira = levada hiking, canyoning, whale watching, Monte toboggan rides, botanical gardens. Mainland = palace tours, fado shows, wine tastings, beach days, city exploration.
Accessibility: Mainland superior for guests (direct international flights, extensive infrastructure). Madeira requires connection via Lisbon, limited accommodation (book 6-12 months advance).
Climate: Madeira consistent year-round spring (17-25°C, “eternal spring” island). Mainland more seasonal variation (mild winters, hot summers).
Spring Weddings (April-May) deliver blooming gardens, comfortable temperatures (16-22°C), and fewer crowds. Best for Sintra palaces (wisteria blooming, lush greenery), Lisbon miradouros, Madeira levada trails. Strengths: fresh energy, wide venue availability, pleasant outdoor ceremonies, jacaranda trees blooming (Lisbon May). Risks: occasional Atlantic showers (especially northern regions), backup plans recommended. Peak spring: May across Portugal.
Summer Weddings (June-September) guarantee Algarve sunshine (28-32°C, 300+ sunny days), long daylight (sunset 9pm+), and established beach reliability. Best for Algarve beaches, Madeira cliff ceremonies, Lisbon riverside venues. Ideal for outdoor receptions, beach clubs, extended celebrations. Strengths: minimal rain risk, maximum daylight, vibrant atmosphere. Risks: Lisbon/Sintra can be hot (30-35°C July-August), peak tourist crowds, accommodation scarcity. Algarve optimal; Lisbon manageable with evening ceremonies.
Autumn Weddings (September-October) offer golden light, grape harvest season, comfortable temperatures (20-26°C), and reduced crowds. Best for all Portuguese regions—Douro Valley wine country, Sintra forest colors, Lisbon perfect temperatures. Strengths: superior photography lighting, harvest abundance, local wine festivals, fewer tourists. Risks: increasing rain probability October onwards (Atlantic influence). September = Portugal’s best wedding month overall.
Regional climate variations: Lisbon-Sintra (Atlantic temperate) = mild year-round, occasional rain. Madeira (subtropical) = spring weather year-round (17-25°C), minimal seasonal variation. Algarve (Mediterranean-Atlantic) = warmest, driest (300+ sunny days).
Overall recommendation: May-June and September-early October optimal across all Portuguese destinations—perfect temperatures, beautiful light, excellent weather reliability without extreme summer heat.
Portugal offers authentic Atlantic soul with colorful azulejo tiles, Sintra UNESCO palaces, dramatic coastlines, and exceptional value. Best for couples seeking undiscovered European gem, genuine local culture, easiest legal ceremony process, and best budget-to-quality ratio. Strengths: Lisbon’s seven hills, Madeira volcanic paradise, Algarve beaches, “saudade” emotional depth, fewer tourists. Climate: Atlantic temperate (15-28°C year-round). More intimate, peaceful atmosphere. Peak season: May-October.
Italy delivers la dolce vita with Renaissance art, Tuscan vineyards, Lake Como elegance, and established luxury infrastructure. Ideal for couples prioritizing Italian romance, diverse landscapes (lakes, coasts, mountains, countryside), refined gastronomy, and wine culture. Strengths: superior architectural variety, more venue options, extensive destination choice. Climate: Mediterranean hot summers (28-35°C). More established, tourist-developed.
Architecture: Portugal = Moorish influences, colorful tiles, medieval castles, Manueline style. Italy = Renaissance palaces, baroque churches, Roman ruins, villa estates.
Food culture: Portugal = fresh seafood, pastel de nata, port wine, simple authenticity. Italy = regional sophistication, courses structure, wine pairings, culinary artistry.
Atmosphere: Portugal = soulful, melancholic beauty, intimate scale, genuine welcome. Italy = passionate, refined, family warmth, established elegance.
Legal ceremonies: Portugal significantly easier (2-3 months) vs Italy’s complex requirements.
Sintra & Lisbon offer historic palaces, panoramic city views, and cultural richness—Lisbon’s seven hills overlook the Tagus River while Sintra’s UNESCO fairytale palaces (like Monserrate Palace) sit just 30 minutes away.
Madeira, an hour and a half flight from the mainland provides dramatic volcanic landscapes, lush forests, cascading waterfalls, and year-round spring weather on an enchanted Atlantic island.
The Algarve (south of Portugal) features golden beaches, dramatic cliffs (like Praia da Marinha), and year-round sunshine with the warmest climate. All three share Portugal’s authentic charm, “saudade” spirit, and are coordinated by Belinda who knows every hidden corner.

WHAT TYPE OF PORTUGAL WEDDING IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

PORTUGAL DESTINATION WEDDING
A Portugal destination wedding means celebrating with friends and family in a country with a strong identity — the old streets of Lisbon, the palaces of Sintra, the golden beaches of the Algarve or a tropical setting in Madeira. We take care of everything from start to finish, and there is plenty to keep your guests busy before and after the ceremony.

WHERE CAN YOU GET MARRIED IN PORTUGAL?
Choosing where to hold your ceremony from overseas is not easy. We have celebrated many wedding ceremonies in Portugal and selected the locations ourselves, taking into account access, a backup plan in case of rain, and how crowded a spot gets.

THE ALGARVE WEDDING PACKAGES
An Algarve wedding means beaches, cliffs and small towns from Tavira to Lagos. Exchange vows with your toes in the sand, under the stars, or above the sea beside the rock formations. If you are planning a surprise for family and friends, we can also hold the ceremony at the villa where you are staying.
