First Looks, a new tradition

Today I’d like to talk about something that has become a trend in numerous countries, and I wanted to share it with you and know what you think…

As all of you know, a wedding is full of traditions and superstitions (something old, something new, something blue, the rings, etc…) However, one of my favorites, and probably one of the most respected in many traditions, I’d like to break it a little bit…

Although I really love the romanticism that surrounds a ceremony, that moment when the groom sees the bride for the first time, I have to admit that “First Looks” are even more exciting, romantic and intimate and are now one of my new favorite traditions.

A “First Look” is when the bride and the groom share an intimate moment together right before the ceremony, without dozens of guests staring at them. Usually, (specially big weddings) are filled with surprises from the moment the couple wakes up in the morning until they dance the last song. It’s a day to celebrate the union of two people who love each other to the fullest, but, in most cases, these two people don’t have the chance to talk to each other, relax and enjoy each other’s company. “First Looks” give them this mutual moment to be alone, just the two of them. It’s the perfect moment to take a deep breath, stare at each other and realize what’s about to happen. Moreover, the photographer can take beautiful pictures of the moment and make it an important part of your big day.

Some of you may think that “First Looks” take the magic away from the ceremonies, as the bride and the groom have seen each other before, but that’s not true. It’s not seeing the white gown, the flower bouquet  or the groom’s vest for the first time what makes the ceremony so special… It’s being with your loved ones and realize that you’re about to become husband and wife and that you will spend the rest of your lives together.

So, even if you are planning a big wedding with hundreds of guests at the best hotel or palace in France or an intimate elopement with your loved ones right next to the Eiffel Tower, think about having a First Look and enjoy your time TOGETHER.
